The CPTEC®-9500 Series compressor lubricants are formulated using a polyethylene glycol (PEG) base fluid combined with a high-performance additive package. They are specifically formulated to give negligible dilution with hydrocarbon gases.
These compressor lubricants feature excellent protection against hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in the gas stream. Excellent corrosion protection, oxidative and thermal stability enable the use of these lubricants over a wide range of temperatures without varnish or deposit formation. The high viscosity index (VI) and negligible hydrocarbon dilution enables the CPTEC®-9500 Series lubricants to operate over wide ranges of temperature and gas composition with small changes in viscosity compared to other types of lubricants.
The CPTEC®-9500 Series fluids are especially advantageous in compressors operating in harsh chemical environments, particularly sour gas (H2S present) applications, due to their robust formulation.

Specialty gas compressor lubricants work in direct contact with gas stream and may be diluted with gas or contaminated with some gaseous or liquid media. This would alter lubricant properties. For proper lubricant selection we need to perform calculations with gas dilution and contamination in mind.
